Brian Kaplan

Children's Director

Brian was born and raised in Marin County back when the 101 was a two lane road. After high school he worked as a carpenter until eventually becoming a contractor in partnership with his brother in a company called Kaplan Brothers Inc. After a best friend shared Christ with him the day before Easter in 1995 he began attending BayMarin Church the next day.  He met his wife Stacey at the name tag table back when the church was based at Dominican College and they married in 1998.  It wasn't until he volunteered with kids that he realized his passion and gifting was teaching so he went back to college from 2000-2004 to finish a bachelor's in Interdisciplinary Studies in Education as well as a Multiple Subject Credential from Sonoma State. While working on his studies he managed to have three children! Brian's first teaching job was at San Domenico School in San Anselmo where he taught 2nd grade Reading and Math along with 5th grade Science. Later he developed a Science curriculum for 1st –5th grade and became the Science Specialist and middle school Maker teacher for 13 years. He recently started a business called "Mobile Maker Club" and will be serving schools, home school students and individuals who don't have access to space, tools and a Maker facilitator. Brian is excited to engage and empower the kids of BayMarin while incorporating the benefits of Making (project based learning) to draw the children closer to God.

Bryan Tabor

Pastor of Students and Community Life

After graduating from Texas A&M University in 2009 with a BS in Sociology, Bryan moved to the Bay Area to pursue a Master of Divinity, finishing his coursework in May 2014 with a concentration in Biblical Studies. Bryan desires to lead others into a biblical and theological understanding of who God is, to know and apply the truth of Scripture and to love and serve others. He has a passion to work with students from all walks of life and has actively been involved in working with students since 2005. Bryan loves all things maroon, most likely due to his love of Texas A&M. Although the 49ers have grown on him, he still believes the Dallas Cowboys will win the Superbowl.

Gary Taylor

Lead Pastor

Gary grew up in the Midwest, as evidenced by his love for comfort food and Cardinals baseball. He received degrees from Missouri Baptist University (B.A.in Bible) and Southwestern Seminary (M.A. in Christian Education). He loves to talk about his life-changing, 2-year experience of Spiritual Formation at The Transforming Center in Chicago, and he’s training to become a Spiritual Director. Beyond all that, his most life-shaping “education” comes from seasons of intense challenges and setbacks – ideal places to meet and be transformed by Jesus. (God has shown a lot of grace and kindness over the years, too; You gotta meet his wife and kids.)

Gary loves trees, which makes Marin his number one spot to call home. Drawing from the story of Zacchaeus in Luke 19, he daily “climbs a tree” for a fresh glimpse of Jesus, and lives to “be a tree” for the sake of others seeing Jesus.
