What does it mean that God created us in His image?

Read 2 Corinthians 3:18. What is meaningful in this passage to you? What is the process of "being transformed" like?

“And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”

What character qualities would we observe in a person who is being transformed more and more into the image of God?

What do you think of the idea that "We are all either being formed or deformed"?

Are you equally offended by people on all sides of the political spectrum, or do you excuse those who are on "your side"?

Discuss dehumanizing people to justify violence. Why does this work? Where have you seen this? What is the result in our culture? Are "good people" immune from this?

Michelle Maiese defines dehumanization as “the psychological process of demonizing the enemy, making them seem less than human and hence not worthy of humane treatment.”

What difference would it make if we primarily saw people as loved by and created in the image of God, and secondarily as broken and imperfect? How difficult is this to do? Why?

Do you sense a call to be an instrument of God's love and shalom in our broken world? How can we do this?
