Discussion Questions

These questions are suggestions: use some of them, one of them, all of them or none of them!

Opener: What do you remember from the sermon?  Do you have any insight or questions you'd like to share.

1. Read the story in Luke 18:1-8 about the judge and the widow. Why do you think Matt said that "pray harder" is a bad reading of this story?

2. We say the Lord's Prayer asking for God's will to be done on earth, as it is in heaven, and Christians have been praying it for 2000 years. Yet still we see suffering and evil in the world. Discuss.

3. Is there something you've been praying for for a long time that just isn't happening? How has the waiting time been? What do you think Matt meant when he said we often live between Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday?

4.  How does the cross "subvert death"?

5. How do you think the sacrifice of Christ is a demonstration of divine power?
