For a few weeks following Easter we will look at what it means for us to practice resurrection. How do we embrace the life of faith, hope and love we are invited to live? We are compelled to live into being fully human and embrace all we were created for. In this series we will explore that invitation from the resurrected Christ more fully.
Lent is a season of reflecting on our own mortality and brokenness. It is an opportunity to discern what God is inviting us to subtract from our lives rather than add more to our lives. It is a season to journey with Jesus to the cross, dying to our egos and anticipating the new life that will come from that kind of death. This Lent we will be following the Lectionary each Sunday, specifically the gospel texts. The Lectionary can be found here.
Advent is a time of anticipation, longing and hope. This Advent we will explore Luke 1 & 2 and the themes of hope, peace, joy and love as we anticipate the gift of the incarnation of the Divine on earth and in each one of us.
When Jesus dies on the cross the veil in the temple was torn in two. This symbolically showed that there was no longer any barrier between us and God. Jesus erased that barrier and now we have direct access to God. The problem is we keep putting a veil back up between us and God and between us and others. We wear veils hoping God and others won't see who we really are. This Lent we want to explore what it looks like to live out of our true selves and to keep allowing Jesus to tear the veil away so that we will live into the words of Scripture which tell us, "And we all, who with unveiled faces reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit."
